A Plague Tale Legacy Mastery Branches: How the Six Paths Work

A post-launch A Plague Tale Legacy guide to the six mastery branches and how to plan skill progress without inventing chapter rewards or hidden values.

Updated · Official

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy has six mastery branches. They are a better starting point for build planning than a made-up “best skill” list because the achievement and progression record confirms the number of branches, while it does not publish a universal order that fits every playstyle.

Choose a mastery direction around the way you solve encounters: stealth, movement, tools or direct combat.

Pick a problem before a branch

Use the first few encounters to identify what is actually stopping progress. If guards detect you, prioritize the branch that improves your stealth routine. If a puzzle or traversal sequence is costing time, choose the branch that reduces that friction. If combat is the issue, test a combat-facing option only after confirming the encounter allows it.

The important rule is not to spend every point before understanding the next chapter’s demand. A mastery branch is a long-term choice; it does not turn a player into a different character after one upgrade.

How to record a useful build

Write down the branch, the unlocked skill name, the chapter or scene where it was purchased, and what changed in a repeatable encounter. Avoid assigning hidden damage multipliers or exact cooldowns unless the released game displays them clearly.

The combat guide and skill-points page cover the surrounding progression. The six-branch count is confirmed; a single best order is not.
